The Ground Shifts PoE 3.27 brings a real change to how many builds work. Grinding Gear Games has released patch 3.27 and the notes show a batch of skill gem buffs that change what is strong and what is not. If you play to test new builds, this is the moment to try things, and some players will put early PoE 1 Currency into experiments to see what sticks.
When a patch lands like this, the whole meta moves fast. Some old favorites become worth a try again, and some niche gems gain a clear role. The main work in 3.27 focused on raw gem numbers and a few Transfigured variants, so players who like to respec and test can get a lot of value from small changes.
Melee skills got the biggest single hits. Cyclone now deals 20% more damage at all gem levels, so its base output is much higher right away. This is a pure damage boost and it is not tied to a condition, so Cyclone users will see steady gains in mapping and bossing. Bone Shatter also got stronger. Each Trauma stack now scales more, moving from the old 2–4% per stack to about 3–6% per stack at gem levels 1–20. That change raises the skill’s ceiling for players who can stack Trauma safely. Both of these shifts push melee play into a better spot early in the league.
Other important caster and attack gems were changed in ways that open new builds. Bladefall gained a higher base critical strike chance and the Trarthus variant got a hefty damage boost, which helps crit spellcasters reach higher crit caps more easily. Blast Rain of Trarthus received a larger secondary radius so its coverage is less of a weak point. The Transfigured Chain Hook of Trarthus now hits more targets and can fire more chains, and it also gained flat damage increases, making it far better for clear speed. These changes mean some Transfigured gems that felt niche can now be used to clear maps fast or to build around unique playstyles.
There are many smaller but useful tweaks too. Some Trarthus variants and other gem forms had their damage or behavior rebalanced to be more reliable in real fights. Convocation lost its attribute requirement and became colourless, while some clone and summoning variants had durations trimmed or damage adjusted. These changes affect how you plan a build, and they change which support gems or items give the biggest payoff. The patch listed a wide set of changes that together shift both boss and mapping choices.
Now is a good time to respec and test. If you like to try league start hits, Cyclone’s 20% more damage makes it a safe play for mapping and fast boss checks. If you enjoy high-risk high-reward melee, Bone Shatter now scales up faster with Trauma and can hit higher damage numbers when you invest in stacks and survivability. Use a small amount of Poe 1 Chaos Orb to buy test gear or to trade for a key item, and then run a few hours of play to see where the build lands. Keep the runs short and note what feels strong so you can refine quickly.
